Sun related Facts about Solar Energy:

Sunlight travels to the earth in approximately 8 minutes from 93,000,000 miles away, at 186,282 miles per second.

The sun is also the main source of non-renewable fossil fuels (coal, gas and petroleum), which began life as plants or animals whose energy came from the sun millions of year ago.

Solar energy is responsible for weather patterns and ocean currents.

Clouds, pollution and wind can prevent the sun's rays from reaching the earth.

xFacts about Solar Energy usage:

Solar Energy is measured in kilowatt-hour. 1 kilowatt = 1000 watts.

1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) = the amount of electricity required to burn a 100 watt light bulb for 10 hours.

According to the US Department of Energy, an average American household used approximately 866-kilowatt hours per month in 1999 costing them $70.68.

About 30% of our total energy consumption is used to heat water.

Residential Solar Electric (PV)

Product advances in solar electricity and utility rules now make generating clean solar power a simple reality. Solar power provides secure and stable electricity to nearly any building. These solutions deliver silent and effortless electricity while reducing dependence on insecure, polluting forms of electricity. These other forms contribute to global warming and are rapidly increasing in cost. Generate a portion or all of your electricity with solar power, TODAY!

Just like the sun, we deliver independence, self-assurance and reliability. Other solar electric benefits include:

  • The cleanest and greenest energy you can buy today
  • Simple operation, no moving parts
  • Shelter from escalating costs
  • Reduced personal carbon footprint
  • Increased value of your home or business
  • Federal tax credits
  • Cash incentives in some states
  • Independence from dirty energy sources

How does it work?

Solar panels silently convert light into electricity. They have no moving parts, require little maintenance and are designed to last for many years. Solar panels use the “photovoltaic effect”, discovered by Edmund Becquerel in 1839, to produce electricity directly from sunlight. Solar panels work best in direct sunshine, but they also work well even on cloudy days.

Solar panels can supply a substantial proportion of the electricity needs of a typical household. They are often mounted on the roof or on the ground and connected to the local electric utility, either supplying all the power directly to the home or pumping the excess back to the utility. Apart from reducing your utility electricity bill homeowners can often sell any surplus electricity directly back to the utility at an attractive rate.

Solar panels are also used for commercial applications ranging from large-scale power plants to small family-run businesses. The applications are almost endless, but each has the same idea in mind: harnessing the power of the sun to make clean, affordable electricity.

Owning is profitable, renting is not. Why continue to rent your electricity? With a solar electric (photovoltaic) system, you can generate your own solar electricity and even sell what you don’t use to the utility company
